We all had a great sleep and woke in the morning refreshed. After a nice breakfast, showers, and 2 jaunts in the park (for the boys), we headed out to see the sights of Perth with Dave’s Aunt & Uncle, Jamilee & Ken.
First, we went to Kings Park. It is a beautiful, memorial park and
botanical garden, high on a hill overlooking the Swan River and the city of
Perth. We walked along a boardwalk that
led to a “glass” bridge that spanned over the treetops. All the views were spectacular and we saw a
large variety of plants, some of which are unique only to Australia. It was fun to see Magpies and Parrots in the
trees. We think we heard a Kookaburra
(laughing), but we didn’t get a glimpse of it.
In the afternoon we went to the Perth Harbour in Fremantle. We
had ice cream; the kids put their toes in the Indian Ocean (!) (they said it was warm) and threw sea
sponges at each other. Afterwards, we
walked along the shops, did our very first souvenir shopping of the trip, and
had dinner in one of the restaurants.
It was a beautiful and relaxing day.
