July 1, 2011 - Happy Canada Day!!
Yesterday we travelled from Thousand Oaks to Oakville. The plane ride was uneventful and all transitions through security and customs went smoothly as well.
The kids were very excited to be reunited with their grandparents and reacquaint themselves with the most exciting feature of the house (for the kids) – The Basement.
In the evening, we were joined by Dave’s brother and his family from Connecticut and Dave’s parents’ home went from a quiet resident for two, to a bustling roar of six excited cousins and six weary, yet content, adults.
After a very brief night, the cousins were up and active early this morning and up to their escapades in the basement. Before lunch we went for a short walk to a local park to stretch our legs.

After lunch, we headed up to Aroura, in our red and/or white attire, to celebrate Canada Day with friends from Dave’s High School days. Michele and Scott hosted a fantastic Canada Day BBQ complete with a scavenger hunt, Canada trivia quiz, drawing project, and prizes for the kids.
To top off a great afternoon, the kids (10 in all), took turns choosing fireworks for the celebration’s finale. It was an outstanding show of pyrotechnics, rivaled by none!

Exhausted from the days excitement, 3 out of the 4 slept for the ride back to Oakville.
