This morning the weather was threatening thunderstorms, so we spent it screening Pixar’s latest sequel, Cars 2, at the movie theatre. Not far from the theatre was a Roots store, so we did some shopping. It was a fun and relaxing way to start our day.
Although the expected rain still hadn’t manifested, we spent a low-key afternoon at the house where the girls were busy glamourizing, while the boys were building forts in the basement.

For dinner, Dave’s other brother and his wife joined the crew as we all walked to an iconic Canadian restaurant…
After dinner, we had a small, post-Canada Day, sparkler celebration. Everyone had fun joining their sparklers to others to “share the love”.
In the evening, the grandparents volunteered to settle the kids to bed while we went for a night cap. During our respite with Dave’s two brothers and their wives, the thunderstorm finally erupted. It was a fantastic, yet short-lived, display of nature’s fireworks.
