Today was our first day without Dave. He left early this morning to take a train back to Madrid. He flies out to LA tomorrow. The last I heard from him, he was having dinner in the Plaza Mayor with his favourite Spiderman.
First thing this morning we headed to the beach for low tide. It’s amazing how low, low actually is. Quite low…trust me. The kids brought a bucket this time to carry their shells, but ended up transporting crabs and fish instead. A local, “co-tide pool hunter”, gentleman with a net kept catching little fish and putting them in the bucket for them. The kids were very good at hunting,
and catching a variety of crabs themselves. From hermit crabs,
baby crabs (look closely at the tips of Ben’s fingers),
and sea-weed covered crabs.
Famished from the hunting expedition, we went to the local bakery to capture some lunch to take home.
This afternoon the wind really picked up, which made for high waves at the beach. The kids were pummeled by them. The boys took many breaks to capture their breath and work on their sand castle building skills.
We had dinner in our casa and then a quiet evening.
Everybody misses Dave.
