Last Day in Seville

Today we had our final encounter with Sevillian history and culture.

We spent the morning in the Museum of Art and Popular Culture. The displays in this museum showed workshop scenes of the various trades and crafts from local and close regional areas. There were a wide variety of interesting exhibits, such as an olive press; sausage making; and china painting.

The temporary exhibit in this museum was a photo timeline of people feeding the birds in the plaza just outside the museum. It dated back as far as 1924. There were even photos of elderly people with the birds, holding photos of themselves as children with the birds. It was very entertaining.

Inspired, we went out to feed the birds…

…another indelible moment for the kids…

…it’s all they’ve talked about since.

By the way, bare shoulders do not a good bird perch make…

After lunch we visited the Archeological Museum. The artifacts in this museum dated back to Paleolithic Spain and up to the Roman occupation (206 BC). All the relics were from Seville and the surrounding areas. Some of the rooms had aroma boxes with samples of aromas from the particular era. It was fun to take a whiff of history.

We are back at our casa for dinner and packing. Tomorrow we head to Cadiz by train – our final destination on our Spain Tour.
