Cádiz

We have successfully reached our final destination.

Our transit, including: 2 taxis (simultaneous) back to the train station in Seville; 1 ¾ hr train ride to Cádiz; a 4 minute local train ride and short walk to our new Casa; went quite smoothly, except for our brief (~10 minute) confinement in a very small (3’x5’) and stuffy elevator at the 2nd train station. The six of us and all our backpacks and luggage fit snuggly inside to make the seemingly short trip up one floor, except when we got there, the doors wouldn’t open. Fortunately, the bell on the elevator worked and someone responded quite quickly on the other side of the doors. Not sure what the word for “stuck” is in Spanish, but he understood. He took some time, but eventually sent the elevator back down where he was able to open the doors and let us out. At which point we opted for the escalator. Once outside the kids remarked how cool and refreshing it was – not sure if it was in fact the breezy, cooler (26°C) than Seville air or the contrast from the stuffy elevator.

All is well and the kids have already overcome any reluctance to reenter an elevator being that our new Casa is on the 6th storey. Our new accommodations are slightly dated, but very spacious and everyone seems to have settled in fine already.

It is in a great location, close to groceries… and what else??

After a trip to the beach and a dip in the Atlantic Ocean, we took a bus into the old city - not that far from us, but everyone’s a little tired from walking all over Seville.

We had dinner and ice cream and then headed to our new Casa for the night.
